AutoZone opens 4,000th store

MEMPHIS, Tenn. AutoZone today announced that it has opened its 4,000th store in Houston.

"This is an exciting time for AutoZone," said Tom Newbern, the company's senior vp of store operations. "Houston continues to be a strong market for us which makes it a natural fit for us to celebrate such a significant event."

AutoZone opened its first store in Forrest City, Arkansas on July 4, 1979. Today, the company has stores in all 48 contiguous states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

 

"Our unprecedented growth is tied directly to AutoZone's unique brand of WOW! Customer Service," said Bill Rhodes, the company's chairman, president and ceo. "I join with 53,000 AutoZoners everywhere in celebrating this outstanding achievement."
