AutoZone 4Q Profit Rises

Memphis, Tenn., AutoZone Inc. said Tuesday that its fourth-quarter net income edged up nearly 2%, as gross margin improved on category management and supply chain efficiencies.

Profit for the quarter ended Aug. 25 rose to $217.2 million from $213.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenue rose 3% to $2 billion from $1.94 billion last year. Domestic same-store sales dipped 0.2% during the quarter.

For the fiscal year, net income rose 5% to $595.7 million from $569.3 million. Revenue rose 4% to $6.17 billion from $5.95 billion last year.
