Arts and crafts retailer offers BOPIS

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores is getting merchandise into its shoppers’ hands faster.

The arts and crafts retailer is launching buy online, pick-up in-store (BOPIS) — a free service that allows its digital shoppers to pick-up online orders at any of its 862 stores chainwide.

Shoppers can browse more than 150,000 SKUS, and purchase items using their smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop. Upon checkout, customers are prompted to choose a store where they would like to pick up their order. Shoppers will receive an email alerting them that their order is ready, and confirm their BOPIS location.

According to Chris DiTullio, the retailer’s senior VP, marketing and omnichannel, Jo-Ann is the first retailer within the fabric and craft segment to offer this service.

“We continue to look for ways to improve our customer experience, both online and in-store,” said DiTullio. “We are happy to offer this service exclusively within the fabric and crafts industry, providing our customers with more options to shop when and how they choose, thus helping them save valuable time.”

Jo-Ann’s commitment to BOPIS is in line with industry trends, as BOPIS continues to pick-up steam industry-wide. In fact, 48% of retail CEOs have already invested in the process or plan to do so in the next 12 months, according to “CEO Viewpoint 2017: The Transformation of Retail,” a report from JDA Software Group and PwC.
