RETAILER NEWS

Sears Holdings has updated its domestics business, adding a new line of products and expanding an existing brand. Kmart is preparing to roll out a line of traditionally styled domestics in September under the Abbey Hill label, while Sears is readying a revitalized and expanded Ty Pennington program with more accessory and decor items and updated styling on existing lines.

HSN has cooked up another deal with celebrity chef Todd English, who has debuted a new line of environmentally-friendly GreenPan cookware. The line features items with Thermalon non-stick coating that is PTFE-free. The six-piece set has an MSRP of $89.90.

The Container Store has partnered with private investment firm Leonard Green & Partners. It hopes to propel growth and preserve its culture, which has consistently landed it on Fortune’s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For.” The storage and organization specialist announced in February that it intended to pursue strategic alternatives to provide financing in the face of strong market conditions for retail mergers and acquisitions. With ownership seeking to reconstitute the company’s financial structure to meet changing internal conditions, management decided the timing was right to line up the bucks for its long-term growth.
