The arrival of Target in Hawaii early next year promises to be a big event in the islands and for the company, as the openings will give Target a presence in all 50 states.
This week, the company will hold a four-day hiring event at the Hawaii Convention Center as it looks to fill 1,200 positions at new stores set to open in March. Another hiring event is set for May 2009 in anticipation of a store opening scheduled for July.
Early this year, Target opened its first store in Alaska with a new unit in Wasilla. That store was among 45 new units that opened during the third quarter ended Nov. 1, which gave the company a total of 1,684 stores, including 239 SuperTarget locations.
