Construction has begun on the Office Depot Center for Executive Education at the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University. The new facility will consist of a 15,500-square-foot, two-story addition to an existing structure at the university’s Barry Kaye College of Business. Office Depot has given the school nearly $3 million over the past two years to fund the project, and when completed, in May 2008, its rooms will be used for corporate training events, continuing education classes and degree programs.

Despite a decline last year in sales and profits at FedEx Kinkos, the division of FedEx Corp. is moving ahead with plans to open 300 new centers during the fiscal year that began June 1. Last year the company opened 226 centers that are intended to serve as the back offices for local businesses and remote offices for traveling professionals.

In an effort to enhance its conservation efforts, International Paper has created an office of sustainability. The office will be led by Sharon Haines, International Paper’s current director of sustainable forestry and forest policy. The office will focus its efforts around wood fiber, conservation, air, water, life-cycle analysis and other natural resources issues as they pertain to the needs of International Paper customers.
