Gary Muto has been named head of Gap brand’s adult business. Muto is a 19-year veteran of the company, most recently leading its Forth & Towne concept. In his new role, Muto will be responsible for all aspects of the Gap Adult and gapbody businesses in North America. Gap also said Tom Wyatt, president of gapbody, will become president of Gap Outlet.
Brad Martin, chairman of the board of Saks, is ending his executive responsibilities and retiring from the company’s board, effective May 4. Stephen Sadove, ceo, will take over as chairman. Sadove joined the company’s management team in 2002 as vice chairman, added the role of coo in 2004 and was named ceo in 2006.
New Balance named Robert DeMartini ceo of the company. DeMartini has more than 22 years of experience in the consumer products industry, serving in various roles at Procter & Gamble, Gillette and most recently as group vp of Tyson Foods consumer products division.

Hanesbrands opened a temporary Hanes Comfortique store in Los Angeles April 19 through April 21. According to the company, the boutique sold Hanes ComfortSoft intimate apparel, which it said costs one-fourth the price of what women buy in specialty stores.
