Apple Cuts Unrestricted iTunes Price

Cupertino, Calif., Apple Inc. on Wednesday lowered the price of the iTunes tracks it sells without anti-piracy software to 99?, down from $1.29, according to Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. Apple announced the price cut a month after Amazon.com launched an online store that sells songs without copyright restrictions for 89? to 99?.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s VP of iTunes, said the company is “adding over two million tracks from key independent labels in addition to EMI’s digital catalog and looks forward to even more labels and artists making their music available on iTunes Plus.”
