A&P uses BI to boost LP efforts
Montvale, N.J. The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., a division of the Tengelmann Group, is improving its loss-prevention program across all of its banners with the installation of a business-intelligence solution.
The chain already uses an Intellex video surveillance system, from American Dynamics, a division of Tyco International, Boca Raton, Fla., that controls video cameras, surveillance software and a digital-video recorder, but it wanted an analytics suite that could monitor cashier activities in every store across its seven banners, A&P, Waldbaum's, Pathmark, Best Cellars, The Food Emporium, Super Fresh and Food Basics.
A&P chose the Sensormatic Analytics BI solution, from ADT, a division of Tyco. The chain is using the solution’s Sensormatic Analytics NaviStor POS and NaviCase integrated case-management modules, which are linked with the Intellex video system. The new suite will also be integrated into the mix.
“The suite helps meet both our short-term and long-term objectives, offering us solutions that can monitor not only our POS activities, but also our pharmacy and direct store delivery areas,” said Don Terreri A&P’s senior director of asset protection.
The solution will track tendering transactions across A&P’s collective portfolio of 444 stores.
