A&P raises $17K to help troops overseas
MONTVALE, N.J. A&P reported that it has raised $17,542 for Operation Shoebox New Jersey, a non-profit organization that collects and ships care packages to U.S. Troops based in the Middle East. The money A&P raised will be used for shipping costs.
A&P announced that throughout the month of February, shoppers at 268 A&P, Waldbaum's and SuperFresh stores had the opportunity to purchase an Operation Shoebox New Jersey postcard from cashiers for $8.95, which is the cost to ship one care package overseas. The stores who sold the most postcards include the A&P in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., the Waldbaum’s in Baldwin Harbor, N.Y. and the A&P in South Plainfield, N.J.
“Our Operation Shoebox Fundraiser was a huge success, selling close to 2,000 postcards,” said Liz Lucadamo, who heads corporate social responsibility at A&P. “With the support from our wonderful customers, our initial goal of selling 1,500 postcards was greatly exceeded, and we would like to extend our gratitude to everyone involved.”
