A&P, Pathmark Agree to Notify FTC
Montvale, N.J., The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc. (A&P) and Pathmark Stores on Thursday agreed to notify federal regulators at least two weeks prior to A&P’s close of its proposed $679 million acquisition of Pathmark Stores, according to the Associated Press.
Both grocery retailers agreed to notify the Federal Trade Commission no sooner than Oct. 5.
The deal will create a 550-store supermarket chain operating in the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia metropolitan areas as well as in the states of Michigan, Louisiana and the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., region.
