Another retailer hit with possible data breach
Specialty retailer Vera Bradley has raised an alert about a possible data breach.
The company said it is investigating a payment card breach that may have affected cards used at the retailer's stores between July 25, 2016 and Sept. 23, 2016. Hackers may have accessed customer data including card numbers, cardholder names, expiration dates and internal verification. Online transactions were not affected.
In a statement, the company, which has approximately 111 full-price stores and 45 factory outlets, said it had stopped the incident and continues “ to work with the computer security firm to further strengthen the security of our systems to help prevent this from happening in the future. “
The retailer has postponed the upgrade of its web site to focus on improving security, CNBC reported, and the new site will now be launched in first quarter 2017.
