Anheuser-Busch tries to hold off InBev takeover

NEW YORK The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, June 12, that Anheuser-Busch is in preliminary merger talks with Mexican brewery Grupo Modelo in order to prevent InBev's, a Belgian beer maker, $46.3 million unsolicited takeover bid.

Anheuser-Busch, according to the report, approached Grupo Modelo about a deal within the past couple of weeks. Anheuser-Busch owns an approximately 50% stake in Grupo Modelo.
