American Eagle Outfitters Same-Store Sales Plunge 22%

Pittsburgh American Eagle Outfitters Inc. said Thursday that same-store sales fell 22% in January, a bigger drop than analysts expected.

Total sales for the four weeks ended Jan. 31 fell 15% to $138.9 million from $163.9 million a year ago.

For the quarter ended Jan. 31, same-store sales fell 16% and total sales fell 9% to $905.7 million.
