Amazon’s video app targets Dropbox and Google Drive

Amazon Cloud Drive users now have access to their personal videos and photos from connected devices on the Amazon Instant Video app.

The feature is now available on PlayStation 3 and 4 along with select LG and Samsung smart TVs across the U.S., U.K. and Germany.

The Amazon Instant Video app is the latest place where customers can view and enjoy personal photos and videos stored on Amazon Cloud Drive, adding to the already extensive library of movies and TV shows for purchase, as well as thousands of movies and TV shows for Prime members with Prime Instant Video. Amazon Cloud Drive is already accessible on the web, iOS and Android devices, Fire TV, Fire phone and Fire tablets.

“We know our customers move from device to device throughout the day and crave choice in how they view entertainment and personal content,” said Michael Paull, VP digital video for Amazon. “We expanded the Amazon Instant Video app to include Amazon Cloud Drive to make it easy for our customers to access their personal memories right alongside their favorite movies and TV shows in Prime Instant Video. We are excited to have Cloud Drive integrated with the Amazon Instant Video app on PlayStation, LG and Samsung, and are looking forward to delivering this feature to even more devices in the future.”

Existing Amazon Cloud Drive account customers who use the Amazon Instant Video app can simply navigate to the photos area within the app to connect with Cloud Drive. New customers can download the Amazon Instant Video app and create an Amazon account during the sign-in process.
