Amazon.com to open fulfillment center in AZ

SEATTLE Amazon.com announced plans to open a new fulfillment center in Goodyear, Ariz., during the third quarter of 2008. The new facility will be more than 500,000 square feet and will create more than 600 full-time positions this year, with an additional 700 temporary positions during the 2008 holiday season.

“As we continue to expand selection for customers across all product categories, we’re excited to be opening a new facility in Goodyear to allow us to serve customers more quickly and efficiently,” said Mike McKenna, vp of Amazon fulfillment services.
