Amazon plans to hire at least 6,000 new workers
Amazon Inc. says it is planning to start hiring for more than 6,000 full-time jobs at fulfillment centers across the United States.
The jobs entail picking, packing and shipping customer orders. The jobs will be available at centers in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana, Wisconsin, Delaware, New Jersey, South Carolina and Connecticut.
Amazon has more than 50 fulfillment centers in the U.S.
“We’re proud to be creating more than 6,000 full-time positions where employees will interact with state-of-the-art technology as part of their day-to-day roles,” said Mike Roth, Amazon’s VP of North America operations.
As part of its Career Choice program, Amazon offers classes from local community and technical colleges to employees onsite at select U.S. fulfillment centers. The company will pre-pay up to 95% of tuition for employee courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
