Amazon to launch electronic book device
SEATTLE According to reports in the local media, Amazon has announced plans to introduce its highly anticipated electronic book device.
The device, which has been dubbed “Kindle” is likely to be released before the end of November.
Kindle is equipped with a Wi-Fi connection that taps into an Amazon e-book store, which users can access to purchase new electronic books. The final price of the Kindle is expected to be $399. Sources say the Kindle comes with a headphone jack for audiobooks, as well as an e-mail address.
Earlier this week, former Amazon affiliate Borders said their upcoming beta site will feature a similar concept called the Magic Shelf, an online version of the book shopping experience, where customers see a realistic looking, three-dimensional wooden shelf of actual book, CD and DVD covers displayed, as they would be in a store.
