Amazon Books is headed to Hudson Yards, the massive redevelopment underway on New York’s west side, according to a report in the New York Post.
The online retailer debuted its bricks-and-mortar retail format last November, at University Village in Seattle, and is set to open a second location, in San Diego, this summer. A third location, at Washington Square Mall, in Tigard, Oregon, is expected to open this fall. The Hudson Yards location would be Amazon’s East Coast beachhead.
Developed by Related Cos. and Oxford Properties Group, the nearly 30-acre mixed-use development on the Hudson River between 30th and 34th Streets will house 16 skyscrapers and a two-level, 750,000-sq.-ft. retail center. It is slated to open sometime between 2018 and 2019.
The Post report quoted a source as saying “I don’t know if the lease is signed yet, but I know the deal is happening.”
