Albertson's launches Rx discount program

BOISE, Idaho Albertson's announced the launch of its new Albertsons Rx-tra Savings prescription discount program, which will provide member households with discounts on all generic and brand name medications, including up to a 30-day supply of over 500 generic drugs for only $4.99. The membership-based program will be offered in all of the company's in-store pharmacies.

Membership in the program is a one-time $10 fee, which covers all members of the household with no restrictions on number of participants or prescriptions. For a limited time, shoppers who register for the program will receive a $10 Albertsons gift certificate.

"We're thrilled to bring this program to Albertsons stores as a low-cost alternative for our pharmacy patients, with our knowledgeable team of health experts to administer them in every store," said Raymond McCall, vp of Pharmacy Operations for Albertson's. "With over 500 prescription medications on our $4.99 formulary and additional discounts on many other medications, it's our hope that this program will benefit those who need it the most."

Albertsons pharmacies will discontinue their "Meet or Beat" prescription pricing program.
