Aeropostale profit up 5% in Q4

New York City Aeropostale said its net income for fourth quarter fiscal 2008 increased 5% to a record $68.2 million, compared with net income of $64.7 million last year.

Total net sales for the fourth quarter increased 17% to $690.0 million, from $591.3 million in fiscal 2007. Same-store sales for the fourth quarter increased 6%.

Net income for fiscal 2008 increased 16% to a record $149.4 million compared with $129.2 million in fiscal 2007.

Total net sales for the fiscal year ended Jan. 31, increased 19% to $1.886 billion, from $1.591 billion in the year-ago period. Same-store sales for fiscal 2008 increased 8%.
