A.C. Moore looks to do more with Marines

11/12/2014

Arts and Crafts retailer A.C. Moore launched its inaugural campaign to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation with a program involving all its stores.

The company’s 140 locations will serve as official drop off locations for the program with every toy donated going to a child in the local community. In addition, the company has pledged to donate 25,000 toys and is asking its customers to help double the donation with an additional 25,000 toys to provide a total of 50,000 toys to kids this holiday season.

Beginning Nov. 15 through Dec. 15, customers can donate new, unwrapped toys at any A.C. Moore location. To kick off the program, select A.C. Moore locations will be hosting a “Make & Take” event for children on November 15. The event will feature winter crafts for kids to make in the store and take home with them at participating locations from 11 am – 2 pm.

The retailer is also leveraging social media at the A.C. Moore Pinterest Toys for Tots pin board. The board hosts a variety of unique gifts for kids of all ages, including toys from Crayola, Melissa & Doug, K’Nex, Disney’s Frozen, Spirograph and others. Beginning on November 15, socially savvy participants can re pin their favorite toy or toys they would like to donate to Toys for Tots. On December 15, the top 10 most repined toys will be donated on behalf of A.C. Moore and their customers.

“We are in the business of creating memories with our customers. Helping people create and share with loved ones. Inspiring people is in our DNA,” said Pepe Piperno, owner and CEO of A.C. Moore. “The partnership with Toys for Tots was an easy choice for us. We want to help give back to the local communities in which we live and work. We want to help families in need create those lasting memories during the holiday season. And what better way than to bring happiness to a child on Christmas morning.”
