Abercrombie Launches Diversity Initiatives to Settle Suit

11/16/2004

New Albany, Ohio, Abercrombie & Fitch is launching several diversity initiatives as part of its settlement last week of three suits. The suits alleged that the retailer passed over minority employees for promotions based on their race.

Among the diversity programs the retailer is launching are:

• The establishment of a new VP of diversity position, which was filled by diversity professional Todd Corley.

• Diversity and inclusion training programs for managers, employees and human resources associates.

• Modifications of the internal procedure that the retailer used to receive employee complaints of discrimination.

• Enhanced diversity compliance and oversight processes.

The settlement also includes a nearly $50 million payment to the plaintiffs.
