Abercrombie & Fitch Co. is losing its COO

5/5/2016

Teen apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch is losing a key member of its executive team.

Jonathan Ramsden, COO, is resigning from Abercrombie effective June 15, 2006. Ramsden, who joined the company in 2008 as executive VP and CFO, was promoted to COO in 2014.

Ramsden had been seen as a potential CEO candidate. Abercrombie has not had a chief executive since Mike Jeffries stepped down in 2014. Instead, the chain has been governed by an “Office of the Chairman,” which in addition to Ramsden includes Arthur Martinez, executive chairman; Fran Horowitz, president and chief merchandising officer; Joanne Crevoiserat, executive VP and CFO; and John Gabrielli, senior VP of human resources. The office will take over Ramsden’s responsibilities.

"The decision to leave was a very difficult one, but I know that the company is in the hands of an outstanding leadership team and that we have built a strong foundation for growth and success,” Ramsden said.
