40 Carrots/WOW!

2/1/2008

Adramatic makeover has transformed 40 Carrots, one of the signature restaurants in Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship. The new space is bright, modern and inviting, and energized by the generous use of color. Reconstituted wood is used for loose seating, which contrasts against the backlighted banquette seating in vivid orange and white. A service counter and juice bar provide plenty of options for grab and run. In a uniquely contemporary touch, the menu boards are digital and all offerings appear on flat-screen LCD monitors.

An inviting design that puts a spotlight on fresh offerings creates a unique and memorable brand experience for WOW! The contemporary store environment features a warm color palette of sun-baked hues and colorful walls with customstylized line imagery. A new icon, a custom sunflower, is prominent on the exterior and is interpreted throughout the 3,000-sq.-ft. space in various ways: as a ceiling cloud over prepared foods, in wall stencils and on wayfinding signage. Among the store’s unique design elements are zig-zag baffle graphics above the cooler/freezer wall. The graphics create dynamic 3-D imagery, with two unique messages from opposite entrance points of the store.
