300+ CEOs weigh in on future of retail

4/20/2016

With 2,400 confirmed attendees, the new retail and e-commerce event Shoptalk has handily exceeded its first year goals, and glancing at the program it’s easy to see why.

Since plans were unveiled last year, Shoptalk has sought to establish itself as the definitive gathering place to unify the community of innovators reshaping commerce. At the time, founder and chairman Anil Aggarwal shared withRetailing Todaywhat sounded like an ambitious goal for a first year event: attract 2,000 attendees with a high concentration of participation from C-level executives and a robust lineup of more than 300 speakers.

It is mission accomplished for Aggarwal and the Shoptalk team with only a few weeks to go until the event. There are now more than 2,400 confirmed attendees, including 320 CEOs, and Aggarwal expects there will be 2,750 total attendees by the time the event occurs from May 15 to 18 in Las Vegas.

“We’ve created an unprecedented platform for large retailers and brands, start-ups, tech companies and investors to come together for a critical dialogue on the evolution of commerce and the ongoing changes in how consumers discover, shop and buy any product, service or experience,” Aggarwal said regarding the Shoptalk formula and industry response. “To do that effectively requires reaching the right scale and mix of attendees, and we’re delighted that with just over three weeks still to go and registrations continuing to pour in, we’ve already achieved that critical mass.”

The essence of Shoptalk is that it presents a unique opportunity for retailers and brands to discover the most importantnew business models and technologies, and network with the innovators responsible for shaping commerce.
