The man who helped developed the luxury center in Porta Nuova — Europe’s richest district in any city — and oversaw the development of Italy’s first luxury outlet centers has been hired by Newmark to put a new glimmer on its luxury real estate business.

Luca de Ambrosis Ortigara, whose 35 years of retail real estate development experience has won him a reputation as a pioneer in luxury class development in Europe, will now be overseeing the global real estate services provider’s goal to widen its international luxury retail worldwide.

“I am honored to become part of Newmark at such a pivotal time,” said de Ambrosis Ortigara. “This is an exciting new chapter in my career and I am eager to play a part in shaping the next phase for Newmark and to collaborate with such a dynamic and forward-thinking team.”

Its client list has included Polo, Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Richemont, Watches of Switzerland, Swarovski and Paul Smith, as well as several LVMH brands such as Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co.

"Luca is an exceptional operator within retail and is a renowned name in our sector,” said Andrew Bathurst, Newmark’s executive managing director. “He is extraordinarily well-connected in the luxury and premium world of retail and we are very excited about the chance to leverage his connections on the global stage within our international tenant representation based business.”

de Ambrosis Ortigara founded DEA Real Estate Advisors in Milan in 2003, where he played a critical role in the development of urban projects such as Porta Nuova and CityLife, both of which have helped redefined Milan’s cityscape.
