Meijer opening three stores in May, including grocery format — here’s where
A leading Midwest discount retailer is expanding its footprint in the coming months.
Meijer will open three new stores on May 6, including one under its Meijer Grocery banner. The 47,000-sq.-ft. grocery store will be located in the Detroit suburb of Rochester Hills, in the company’s home state of Michigan. It will be the third Meijer Grocery store in Michigan, complementing the company's 125 supercenters and market format stores throughout the state, and its fourth location overall. (In addition to Michigan, Meijer Grocery has a location in Noblesville, Ind.)
Meijer launched its grocery format, which offers guests a “streamlined shopping experience,” in 2023, with the opening of two Meijer Grocery stores in Southeast Michigan. The retailer says it plans to open additional locations in the future.
"This new Meijer Grocery location represents our continued investment in bringing value and convenience to customers right where they live and work," said Maureen Mitchell, VP of the East Michigan region for Meijer. "Designed for convenience, the streamlined format makes it easy for customers to quickly find the fresh food and other essentials they need at the lowest prices every day."
In addition, Meijer will open two supercenters on May 6. Details on the new locations are below.
Brownsburg, Ind.
The new 159,000-sq.-ft. supercenter in Brownsburg, a town northwest of Indianapolis, will be Meijer's 44th location in the state. A Meijer Express gas station will open on April 8 adjacent to the store.
Meijer supercenters offer a wide selection of products, including bakery, meat, seafood and deli departments, a floral area, garden center, apparel and home goods sections. The supercenter will also include a full-service pharmacy with a drive-through option, health and beauty care section, an expansive pet department, electronics, toys and sporting goods.
"We know value and convenience are key for our busy customers who are stretching their dollars, and our supercenters are a one-stop-shop that delivers both every day," said Jess Murray, VP of the Indiana region for Meijer. "We are excited to join the Brownsburg community and look forward to opening our doors to customers later this spring."

Bainbridge Township, Ohio
The new 159,000-sq.-ft. supercenter will open on the site of the former Geauga Lake amusement park in Bainbridge Township, located southeast of Cleveland. The location will bring Meijer’s store count in Ohio to 59.
"The feedback we've received from customers about the value and convenience we offer is consistently positive, and we are excited to bring that experience to our neighbors in Aurora and Bainbridge Township," said Todd Anderson, VP of the Ohio region for Meijer. "Being part of this historic redevelopment at Geauga Lake is an incredible honor, and we look forward to serving customers at this location soon."
Meijer is a privately-owned, family-operated retailer that operates more than 500 supercenters, grocery stores, neighborhood markets, and express locations throughout the Midwest.
