Meijer is bringing its new curated, small-store format to Cleveland's Fairfax neighborhood.

Meijer is slated to open its first neighborhood market outside of its home state of Michigan early next year.

The retailer will open Fairfax Market in the Fairfax neighborhood of Cleveland.  Scheduled to open on Jan. 16 at 2190 E. 105th St., the 40,000-sq.-ft. store is part of a mixed-use neighborhood revitalization project being developed in partnership with the City of Cleveland, Cleveland Clinic, the Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation and Fairmount Properties. The store is located within the Cleveland Innovation District, just south of Cleveland Clinic Main Campus.

Fairfax Market is Meijer's first small-format neighborhood market outside of Michigan. Meijer’s first neighborhood market opened in Detroit in 2021, with locations following in Grand Rapids, Lansing and Royal Oak.

The Cleveland store will feature fresh meat and deli items, fresh produce, a bakery, a floral and gift shop, as well as more than 2,000 local products including beer and wine and health and beauty products. Amenities include a 104-foot international section, featuring products from around the globe alongside vendors from Cleveland, and a 54-seat cafe space, featuring coffee and sandwiches from Saucy Coffee and sushi from Hissho Sushi.

"Fairfax Market is committed to being more than just a new store. We will be an involved partner, investing in the community and supporting local businesses," Fairfax Market store director Alan Jordan said. "We look forward to providing convenient access to fresh, quality food and other necessities at good prices, and we can't wait to welcome our neighbors into the store next month.”

The store's regular hours will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. It will be staffed by 50 team members.

Based in Grand Rapids, Meijer operates more than 500 locations throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
