Marco's opens first of many planned Mexico City stores

Months after announcing its planned international expansion, Marco’s Pizza has opened its first store in Mexico.

The Ohio-based pizza chain’s first store in the country is located in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City, the largest city in North America. The new location is part of a master franchise agreement with Grupo Pizza Amantes SA de CV to open 50 units in Mexico City over the next 10 years.

The new end cap store spans 1,700 sq. ft. and features a walk-up pick-up window, bringing convenience to customers. The store is also leveraging third-party delivery and testing delivery via scooters to maximize efficiency.

To celebrate the opening, key members of Marco's executive team traveled to Mexico to mark the brand milestone with a grand opening event, including co-CEO & president Tony Libardi, founder Pat Giammarco, chief development officer Gerardo Flores and chief operating officer John Meyers, in addition to various local influencers and government officials.

Marco's currently touts more than 60 locations across the Bahamas and Puerto Rico through a master franchisee appointed for the Caribbean. The chain is also continuing to grow its footprint domestically, most recently announcing new stores arriving in the Midwest through a franchise agreement.

Headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, Marco’s operates approximately 1,200 stores in 34 states with locations in Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.
