Macy's is gearing up for Christmas in a big way.

A legendary department retailer has unveiled its extensive plans for the holiday season.

Macy’s has kicked off its "100 Days" countdown to Christmas by unveiling holiday plans that include a gift guide, new Santa national tour experience and the expansion of its market of curated local vendors.

The retailer's "Top 100 Holiday Gifts" will feature a “thoughtfully curated” selection of unique gifts at every price point. Macy’s says the collection will feature 40% more newness across the holiday assortment, featuring a selection of advent calendars, cashmere sweaters, jewelry, beauty and fragrance gift sets, and more.

Santa

After the finale of the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Santa Claus will begin a journey to Macy’s nationwide, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks. And continuing a more than 160-year tradition at Macy's, Santa will return to Santaland at the retailer's Herald Square flagship in New York City, and at Macy’s State Street store in Chicago.

The experience will include immersive winter wonderland featuring Santa’s Village and Workshop.  Also, a Build-A-Bear Workshop will debut next to Santaland on the eighth floor at Macy’s Herald Square. Customers will be able create their own stuffed animals, dressing, accessorizing and naming their own teddy bears.

Holiday Markets

Returning for the second year, Macy’s Holiday Square Market at the Herald will feature an expanded market of curated local vendors, unique shopping experiences, customizable gifts and more. It will be located on the lower level of store and run from November 1 to January 4.

New this year,  Macy’s State Street store will host a Holiday Square Market in partnership with Bensidoun USA, the world’s premiere operator of authentic French open-air markets. Open from November 26 through December 24, the market will bring the French culture and style to Chicagoans, with fresh, locally grown produce, seasonal flowers, festive food and more holiday gifting, Macy's said.

“Macy’s creates memories and has been part of our customers’ traditions for generations," said Sharon Otterman, Macy’s chief marketing officer. "We’re celebrating 100 days until Christmas because anticipation is part of the magic. Wonderful stories start here —  we aim to deliver joy and create memories throughout the holiday season."

Macy’s is also leveraging social media to engage holiday shoppers. Fans and music enthusiasts can help create Macy's "Most Wonderful Holiday Mix" by submitting their favorite festive music to Macy’s social media channels on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok between Sept. 16 and Oct. 17. After all submissions are collected, the full playlist will be posted on Spotify on Nov. 1.

Macy's Inc. operates approximately 680 stores across its banners.
