Kohl's names new CTO
Kohl’s has tapped a tech veteran to join its C-suite.
Steven Dee will assume the role of chief technology officer at the department store retailer, effective Aug. 25. Reporting to interim CEO Michael Bender, Dee will be responsible for overseeing all technology and information platforms supporting Kohl’s omnichannel business, ultimately supporting the broader business strategies.
Dee has more than 25 years of experience in technology. Most recently, he served as the global chief information and technology officer at cosmetic and haircare brand Rodan + Fields, a role he held for more than five and a half years.
"We are happy to welcome Steve to the Kohl's team during this important time for the company," said Bender, who was named interim CEO in May following the termination of Ashley Buchanan for cause. "As an omnichannel retailer, it's critical for our business to have smart, agile tech solutions that both drive the work and enable operational effectiveness. Steve is well-positioned to help accelerate our strategic goals and enhance the experiences we deliver to our customers and teams."
Prior to Rodan + Fields, Dee spent nearly six years at Nike in two positions focused on digital technology. He also served as the chief information officer for online retail company Hayneedle for four years, and in the same role at J.Crew for more than two and a half years.
The appointment of Dee comes one month after Kohl's appointed Arianne Parisi as chief digital officer.

"Retail is an exciting and dynamic industry that depends on smart, scalable technology solutions to serve associates all across the country, enable the systems that run operations, and ultimately improve the way Kohl's can serve our customers. I look forward to joining the leadership team and driving the goals of this great company."
