JLL’s boutique retail leasing platform, 10Twelve, has been selected to curate a retail and restaurant lineup for a 180,000-sq.-ft. center to be constructed at the Deer Valley ski resort outside of Salt Lake City.

JLL holds that the project will be the first new alpine village built in North America in more than 40 years.

10Twelve aims to design a tenant mix tailored specifically to the property, which will be called Deer Valley East Village, that pairs national and regional retailers with local and experiential concepts intended to feel distinct to the mountain setting.

A residential component of the project will be headlined by the Waldorf Astoria Deer Valley Resort and Residences and Marcella at Deer Valley, which will be composed of more than 140 mountain home sites and 50 townhomes anchored by two on-mountain private lodges.

“Something really unique about this project is that it activates the resort in all four seasons,”said Molly Morgan, the managing director of 10Twelve. “Deer Valley will be programmed for year-round activity with live music in the outdoor amphitheater, summer activations, and access to more than 50 miles of hiking and biking trails.”

Morgan said that 10Twelve intends to work closely with Deer Valley East Village’s ownership and development partner to design a merchandising strategy and tenant mix that pairs national and regional retailers with emerging local and experiential concepts intended to feel distinct to the mountain setting and aligned with the destination's five-star positioning.

"Deer Valley East Village was intentionally built to be a place people want to be all twelve months a year,” said Peter Peterson, Deer Valley East Village’s senior VP of food, beverage and entertainment. "Our food, beverage and retail program is central to the destination’s character. It's what turns the village from a place you pass through into a place you live, gather and come back to time and time again.”
