Miracle Mile’s sky ceiling will remain, as will its rainstorm show—with technological improvements.

At 85 feet above the concourse, the “sky ceiling” at Miracle Mile Shops is higher than the Las Vegas mountains that surround it. Now reaching greater heights are the surroundings that lie beneath it.

Interior spaces are nearing completion in massive renovation of the 500,000-sq.-ft. shopping and entertainment center near Planet Hollywood. New flooring, lighting, doors, décor, and hanging art pieces are intended to make its concourses brighter and more stylish, according to the center’s VP and general manager Robert Buchanan.

“Our amazing design partners and construction team have helped us realize our vision,” Buchanan said.“ As we move into 2023, we look forward to seeing the continued progress around our property and are very excited to re-introduce the new and improved Miracle Mile Shops to our guests this spring.”

Originally opened as the Desert Passage mall as part of the Aladdin Hotel in 2000, the property was redone and renamed using a Los Angeles theme in 2007. The new designs pays homage to  the original Desert Passage, modeled after an Arabian bazaar.

The new Miracle Mile Shops will still feature a piece of the original ornate flooring, as well as a hanging art piece Miracle Mile Shops had commissioned to match the flooring’s design.

Miracle Mile’s signature indoor rainstorm show, which also dates back to its Desert Passage days, is undergoing extensive upgrades that include an immersive light and water show. The center’s traditional sky-painted ceiling will also remain.

Still to be completed are new state-of-the-art exterior LED screens and signage, projection mapping technology for a new show above V Theater, modernized landscaping, new interior seating, updated fixtures, and touchless digital directories. Miracle Mile Shops will also welcome new tenants to the shopping center, including the recently announced Sandbox VR.

The rainstorm show has had more than 100,000 performances at Miracle Mile, which has served as a backdrop for films and TV shows including “21” and “Get Him to the Greek.”

The renovation team is made up of Cooper Carry, Digital Kitchen, Sensory Interactive and VCC.
