Indoor navigation tool debuts in Canadian malls for the holidays

Shoppers will be able to use a mobile app to guide their searches at Canadian malls this holiday season.

Without relying on beacons, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth, Mall mApp gives consumers turn-by-turn directions to the stores they want to visit. Based on real-time location information, each user has the option of choosing the best path through the mall.

In addition, shoppers can conduct in-app searches for products by name or category and receive information on store events and sales.

Among the malls offering the service are Sherway Gardens, Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Toronto Eaton Centre, Vaughan Mills, Scarborough Town Centre, Stone Road Mall, Devonshire Mall, Somerset Collection, and Great Lakes Crossing Outlets.

Because Mall mApp doesn't rely on external hardware, shoppers won’t lose signals or enter dead zones, according to Mapsted, the Ontario-based company that provides the Mall mApp service.

"We’ve had tremendous feedback from our app in places like Devonshire Mall, and we can't wait to deliver the same enhanced customer experience to more shoppers this holiday season,” said  Mapsted CEO Mapsted, the Ontario-based company that provides the Mall mApp service.Paramvir Nagpal.
