Medical care centers looking to get closer to patients are starting to build sizeable outposts in neighborhood centers.

Nemours Children’s Health is one of them, and has signed a lease with Urban Edge Properties for a 19,329-sq.-ft. facility at Broomall Commons outside of Philadelphia, sharing space with Amazon Fresh, PetSmart, Pep Boys, and Planet Fitne. The facility will open in what was a Giant Supermarket.

“Adding this new use at Broomall Commons continues to demonstrate that Urban Edge is focused on expanding the essential services and retail at our properties,“ said Urban Edge’s senior VP of leasing Leigh Lyons.

Nemours is a highly visible health care proprietor in Florida and the Mid-Atlantic states, where it operates more than 70 primary and specialty care practices. It claims that its Nemours KidsHealth.org. is the world’s most-visited website for information on the health of children and teens.

The new Broomall facility — set to open in the spring of 2023 —will be an outpatient pediatric specialty care facility performing medical and surgical procedures, as well as physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

“This new location in Broomall is just one example of how Nemours Children’s is building on its long-standing primary and specialty care services in southeastern Pennsylvania," Mark Mumford, CEO of Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware.
