Walgreens Boots Alliance was the biggest buyer at the auction for the pharmacy assets of bankrupt retailer Shopko.
The pharmacy-related assets from some 120 Shopko stores were up for sale at the auction as part of the chain’s plan to exit the prescription business. According to
court filings, Walgreens successfully bid for the assets of 63 Shopko pharmacy locations. The assets include prescription inventories, records, customer lists and patient profiles.
Other successful bidders included CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Albertsons and Kroger as well as several regional and community pharmacy and grocery store owners. Shopko reportedly expects to generate some $52 million from the pharmacy auction.
