A note by one analyst has put industry observers into a tizzy.
Loup Ventures' Gene Munster predicted Amazon will buy Target in 2018, reported
CNBC. Munster was an influential technology analyst with Piper Jaffray for 21 years before he co-founded venture capital firm Loup Ventures at the start of 2016.
“Amazon believes the future of retail is a mix of mostly online and some offline," Munster wrote in a post on Monday,” according to
CNBC. "Target is the ideal offline partner for Amazon for two reasons, shared demographic and manageable but comprehensive store count. As for the demographic, Target's focus on mom[s] is central to Amazon's approach to win wallet share."
