Dollar General adds to C-suite; promotes six others to new roles

Tony Rogers is joining Dollar General's C-suite from Signet Jewelers.

Dollar General has announced several new leadership promotions, highlighted by a retail veteran joining the team as chief marketing officer.

Tony Rogers has joined the Tennessee-based dollar chain as senior VP and chief marketing officer, and will lead the development and execution of the company’s marketing, branding and personalization strategies across all channels, including digital properties and the DG Media Network. 

Rogers has more than 25 years of retail experience. He joins Dollar General from Signet Jewelers, where he has served as chief marketing officer since August 2022. Prior to that, he spent 17 years with Walmart in a variety of executive roles, including serving as chief member officer, Sam's Club, from 2018 to 2022. He also served as chief marketing officer, Walmart U.S., from 2016 to 2018.

  • Tim Bartlett has transitioned to VP, asset protection. In the eight years since joining Dollar General, Bartlett has progressed through roles including district manager, regional director, human resources director and director of store operations, emerging markets where he supported the launch of DG’s first store in Mexico. In 2023, he was promoted to division VP. 
  • Matt Frame has been promoted to division VP, store operations. With more than 20 years of retail leadership experience, Frame will lead sales, talent strategies and performance optimizations for 10 regions across the southeastern United States, covering more than 2,000 stores. Frame joined Dollar General in 2016 as regional director and most recently served as director of operations, pOpshelf, before being promoted to senior director in 2022. 
  • Natalie McConnell has joined the company as VP, division merchandising manager over holiday events, toys, and lawn and garden. In this role, McConnell will develop and lead the business strategy for Dollar General’s largest seasonal categories. She has more than 20 years of merchandising and planning experience. 
  • Jimmy Nguyen has been promoted to VP, division merchandise manager, health and beauty. He joined Dollar General in 2012 and most recently served as senior director of merchandising with previous roles progressing from merchandising planning analyst to brand manager. He brings knowledge in buying, financial planning and building high-performing teams to his new role, where he will oversee merchandise buying strategy and assortment, and sales planning initiatives within the non-consumables category of health and beauty.
  • Kaushik Paul has rejoined the company as division VP, store operations. A retail industry veteran with more than 25 years of expertise in operations and building high-performing teams, Paul will lead 10 regions across Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas covering more than 2,100 stores. He previously held regional director and division VP roles at Dollar General. 
  • Brett Sorensen has been promoted to division VP, store operations. Sorensen joined DG in 2018 as a district manager and has since held roles of increasing responsibility, including regional director and senior director, store operations. In his new role, he will oversee more than 2,300 stores in 10 regions across nine states, primarily from the Midwest to Great Lakes regions.

As of May 3, 2024, Dollar General operated 20,149 Dollar General, DG Market, DGX and pOpshelf stores across the U.S. and Mi Súper Dollar General stores in Mexico.
