Dog Haus plots 50 new locations led by new C-suite hires
A California-based fast-casual dining concept is embarking on a national expansion – in addition to adding new leaders to its C-suite.
In tandem with a 50-unit development deal, Dog Haus, known for its smashburgers, all-beef hot dogs and handcrafted sausages, has appointed Chris Rigassio as president and chief development officer, and Garen Khodaverdian as chief operating officer. Beyond their franchisee deal and leadership roles, the two have also joined the brand’s partnership, alongside the company founders (Hagop Giragossian, Quasim Riaz and André Vener) and CEO Michael Montagano.
Reporting directly to Montagano, Rigassio and Khodaverdian will oversee the brand’s planned 1,500-unit expansion across new markets, including the Midwest and Puerto Rico, and existing ones. Both leaders began their careers as part-time employees at Jersey Mike’s Subs, eventually rising to become successful multi-unit franchisees. Today, the pair operate 100-plus locations across multiple fast-casual concepts, including Jersey Mike’s and Wingstop.
“Dog Haus has the DNA of a national powerhouse — an amazing menu, strong brand identity and an energized following,” said Khodaverdian. “What excites me most is the opportunity to scale this brand the right way by prioritizing consistency, operational strength and people-first leadership. We’re not just growing but rather elevating Dog Haus to show the country what this brand can truly become.”

Dog Haus said that with the leadership additions, the company is entering its “most ambitious expansion phase yet.” Founded in Pasadena, Calif., in 2010 by three longtime friends, the chain operates more than 50 locations.
“This is an unprecedented deal that bridges the gap between franchisor and franchisee, where economic and governance interests are truly aligned for the first time ever in our industry – we will all win together." said Montagano.
