Dick’s to open first discount concept at CBL mall

CBL Properties told Chain Store Age it had nothing to add to a report from Bloomberg last week that it was preparing a bankruptcy filing, but it did have a new store concept to add.

Overtime, a value-priced concept from Dick’s Sporting Goods that will sell apparel, footwear, and equipment at up to 75% off, will debut at CBL’s Monroeville Mall in Western Pennsylvania. 

“This addition will complement the existing tenant mix and will satisfy the demand for additional value-oriented retail in the market,” said CBL CEO Stephen Lebovitz.

Dick’s will no doubt keep a close watch on the new store from its Pittsburgh headquarters, just 15 miles west of Monroeville.

Dick’s owns and operates Golf Galaxy and Field & Stream specialty stores, as well as Dick’s Team Sports HQ, a youth sports digital platform that provides scheduling, communications, and live scorekeeping.
