Daiso expands footprint; opens first Colorado store

Daiso operates more than 180 stores in the U.S.

Daiso is expanding its footprint with a handful of new stores — including in a new market.

The Japanese-owned budget retailer is opening new locations in Orange County, Calif. and the Chicago suburbs, in addition to opening its first locations in Colorado. The new stores in Fort Collins, Ill., and Aurora, Ill., will open on March 15 and March 22, respectively.

The first Colorado location will open in Fort Collins at Pavilion Shopping Center. The second store will open in Aurora at Village on the Park.

"We are beyond excited to bring Daiso to Colorado for the first time," said Jack Williams, chief retail operations officer for Daiso USA. "Both Fort Collins and Aurora are fantastic communities, and we've seen growing demand for our distinctive and value-driven offerings. We can't wait to introduce our brand to these new customers."

Other recent and upcoming store openings for Daiso include the following:

  • Aliso Viejo, Calif. (The Commons at Aliso Viejo, March 15)
  • Bloomingdale, Ill. (Bloomingdale Court, March 22)
  • Niles, Illl. (Civic Center Plaza, March 8)
  • Oswego, Ill. (Oswego Commons, Feb. 8)

Each store will feature Daiso's signature “fun, treasure-hunt shopping experience,” offering a wide range of products including home decor, kitchenware, beauty products, stationery, Japanese snacks and more.

"We're proud to be opening more stores in 2025,” said John Clarke, chief development officer for Daiso USA. “With 180 stores now operating across the U.S., we're excited to serve new communities and bring the Daiso experience to even more customers."

Founded in Japan, Daiso entered the U.S. market in 2005 and has since expanded into multiple states. The company's U.S. headquarters is in Anaheim, Calif.

Daiso operates over 6,000 stores across the globe.
