CVS Health has reopened one of its locations following a major natural disaster.

The pharmacy retailer has reopened its store in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, which was damaged and forced to close during the wildfires that swept through Southern California in January. After months of repairs, the location is one of the first businesses to reopen since the fires, marking a milestone for the community.

The Pacific Palisades store, located on Swathmore Avenue, has been rebuilt to feature an expanded pharmacy and private consultation and vaccination area, improved in-store delivery pickup area, and updated layout, décor and fixtures.

In addition, CVS says the initial product mix has been curated to meet the needs of those currently shopping the store, primarily construction teams working in the area, and features an expanded assortment of grab-and-go foods, snacks and drinks. As residents begin to return to the Pacific Palisades over the coming months and years, the retailer says the store's offerings will shift to meet the evolving needs of the community.

"After months of hard work, we're thrilled to welcome back customers to our Swarthmore Avenue CVS Pharmacy store," said Michael Ibrahim, division VP of retail field operations at CVS Pharmacy. "From the day the wildfires devastated the area, our commitment to the community has been unwavering, and I want to thank the store team for working tirelessly over the last several months to reopen this location. With community rebuilding efforts underway, we're focused on ensuring hardworking first responders, construction workers and community members have access to the products they need."

In the months since the wildfires, CVS Health has supported the communities devastated by the fires through grants to organizations providing direct assistance. The aid has totaled more than $2 million to date.

As of June 30, 2025, CVS Health operated approximately 9,000 retail pharmacy locations, more than 1,000 walk-in and primary care medical clinics.
