CVS expands perks with new ExtraCare Plus program

CVS Pharmacy is expanding its ExtraCare loyalty program into two simplified tiers to help customers meet their health needs.

The company's no-fee loyalty tier will remain branded as ExtraCare, but the paid membership tier — previously called CarePass — has been renamed ExtraCare Plus.  The free program includes all the same benefits as it did previously, which include sale prices, personalized deals and 2% back in ExtraBucks Rewards on all purchases.  

In a change, the no-fee tier now also includes some new features, including benefits that were previously part of the ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards program. Members can now opt-in to earn up to $50 for filling prescriptions and getting flu shots and other vaccines. ExtraCare members will now earn twice as fast, with $2 ExtraBucks Rewards earned for every four prescriptions filled.

The only change to the paid ExtraCare Plus program is the addition of same-day delivery of nearly all products in the store in as little as three hours. Members also receive a $10 monthly bonus reward. Free same-day delivery was previously available only for pharmacy sales. 

The changes follow CVS’ previous upgrades including paying 2% back in ExtraBucks Rewards even faster after checkout, and enhancing digital capabilities across the CVS Pharmacy app, text messages and in-store checkout.
