Cullinan Properties, the pioneering mixed-use property developer that named a new president in March, his week names a new chief investment officer.

He is David Schreiber, a 20-year veteran in real estate investment who was the co-founder of AneVista Group, a real estate private equity firm that focuses on the development, acquisition, and operation of small format, daily-needs shopping centers.

“We are excited to welcome David,” said president Michael Gold, who took over as president of the East Peoria-based mixed-use developer in March. “David’s extensive and dynamic background coupled with his strong leadership skills and demonstrated experience will be instrumental as we continue to expand and enhance our portfolio.”

Before co-founding AneVista Group, Schreiber served as the retail sector lead at LaSalle Management, where he executed more than $4 billion of acquisitions and developments across a broad range of property types that included retail, mixed-use, office, and medical office properties.

Schreiber currently serves as vice chair for the Urban Land Institute’s Commercial and Retail Development Council. He will be working out of Cullinan Properties’ Chicagoland office.

Cullinan Properties was founded in the mid-Eighties by commercial real estate developer Diane Cullinan Oberhelman, who realized the value of adding retail to office and residential projects and became an early player in the development of mixed-use projects.

The company is currently constructing Rock Run Collection in Joliet, Ill., a 310-acre mixed-use development that will be anchored by a Penn Entertainment Hollywood Casino. The project plans call for 500,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurants and 160,000 sq. ft. of entertainment along with office, hospitality, and multifamily.

Cullinan projects that, when completed, Rock Run Collection, which is located off of Interstate 55, has the potential to draw 10 million visitors annually.

Five years ago, Diane Cullinan Oberhelman was inducted into the Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame for developing projects such as East Peoria’s Levee District, East Court Village in Pekin, and Streets of St. Charles in Missouri.
