Club Studio members can take advantage of full-body cryotherapy after their workouts.
Fitness International—the operator of LA Fitness and City Sports Clubs—continues to expand its Club Studio boutique brand on the West Coast.
It has signed a lease for the 48,000-sq. ft. first level of the former Bloomingdale’s space at Santa Monica Center, a high-toned Macerich property on the Pacific Ocean that’s home to Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Nike, Hugo Boss.
Club Studio’s other two California gyms are in Long Beach and Irvine.
Like Life Time’s new brand Ultra Fit—Club Studio offers recovery amenities such as compression therapy and full-body cryotherapy to the typical weight rooms and rows of cardio machines found in a standard gym.
“We’ve seen proof of how symbiotic, high-end fitness uses add traffic from early mornings to late evenings at our top regional town centers," said Macerich’s senior EVP of leasing Doug Healey, “Club Studio is an outstanding fitness brand with a very loyal and growing clientele, and we are very pleased to welcome them to Santa Monica Place.”
Club Studio is composed of five boutique studio rooms: CS4, Box, Ride, Hot Yoga and Reformer Pilates. The club also includes steam rooms, infrared saunas, and towels. Personal training and studio one-on-one sessions, a high-end juice bar, and a retail store are also available to members.
“Club Studio aims to provide a top-quality fitness experience that is convenient for its members, and Santa Monica Place aligns with that vision," said Bill Horner, senior VP and chief real estate officer of Fitness International. “The vibrant atmosphere and lively community create a dynamic backdrop for our club.
Fitness International, which operates more than 700 fitness centers nationwide, debuted Club Studio at the beginning of this year. The new concept’s other locations are found in Vienna, Va. and Irvine, Texas.
