Centennial and Lincoln launch a new retail operating platform
When mall owner and third-party operator Centennial was acquired by Lincoln Capital, its new president Paul Kurzawa commented that the partnership shared a vision to reimagine retail-anchored real estate with destinations “that are not only relevant to today’s consumers, but also adaptable to future trends.”
That goal has been institutionalized this week with the introduction of “Centennial, powered by Lincoln,” a national retail operating system that intends to provide property owners and investors with “multi-discipline retail expertise supported by a vertically integrated real estate infrastructure,” according to a press release announcing the introduction of the service.
The platform aims to blend Centennial’s third-party operation and leasing experience with Lincoln’s national scale to “drive value across complex retail and mixed-use assets.”
“Retail has never been more central to the performance of mixed-use assets, and owners are demanding a higher level of specialized expertise to unlock value,” said David Binswanger, co-CEO of Lincoln.
The service aims to give property owners and investors access to a retail operating platform that pairs retail strategies with local market insight, along with access to Lincoln’s real estate services.
“This is about scaling what we do best,” said Kurzawa. “By combining our multi-discipline retail expertise with Lincoln’s national reach and local market insight, we’re able to support owners more effectively across the country while also expanding our ability to invest alongside our partners.”
When the partnership with Lincoln was established in 2024, Centennial founder and CEO Steven Levin explained that the pairing was based on a shared vision of stewarding the future of retail real estate.
“By combining Centennial’s retail expertise with Lincoln’s experience in office, multi-family, and hotel,” said Levin when the deal was done, “Centennial will be even better positioned to deliver the industry’s best playbook for acquiring, repositioning, and redeveloping thriving developments.”
Dallas-based Centennial owns and/or operates more than 25 million square feet of retail and mixed-use destinations across 18 states.
Lincoln Property Company offers real estate services and solutions to owners, investors, and occupiers across all real estate asset types including office, multifamily, and industrial, as well as retail.
