Walgreens Boots Alliance has named a consumer goods veteran as global chief information officer.
The pharmacy retailer and wholesaler announced that Francesco Tinto was named CIO and senior VP at the company. He will succeed Anthony Roberts, who previously served as global CIO and senior VP at WBA, who will retire from his position after assisting with the transition.
Tinto will oversee the global strategy for WBA’s IT operations across all of the company’s divisions, as well as the implementation of its technology and digital innovation. He will be based at WBA corporate headquarters in Deerfield, Ill.
For the last 17 years, Tinto held various leadership positions at Kraft Heinz Company and Kraft Foods. Most recently, he was global CIO and head of global business services, where he oversaw IT and shared services, including finance, customer service, master data, HR and analytics. Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade at Procter & Gamble, managing key functions for retail, marketing, sales, supply chain and information systems.
WBA has more than 18,500 stores in 11 countries as well as one of the largest global pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution networks, with more than 390 distribution centers delivering to more than 230,000 pharmacies, doctors, health centers and hospitals each year in more than 20 countries.
