Shipt, the same-day delivery service owned by Target, is bringing in an experienced Target executive as CEO.
Kelly Caruso, who most recently served as Target’s senior VP of hardlines, is now CEO of Shipt. Bill Smith, founder and former CEO of Shipt, announced he will be departing the company to pursue his next entrepreneurial challenge. He will continue to serve as an advisor to the company.
Caruso has also served as president of Target sourcing services, as well as VP of kids’ apparel and VP of merchandise operations for the discount giant. She has also held several other inventory planning and merchandising roles at retailers including Target, Abercrombie & Fitch, and May Merchandising Company.
"With expertise ranging from the sales floor to sourcing and merchandising, Kelly is a proven leader who knows retail inside and out,” said John Mulligan, CEO of Target and director of Shipt. “She’ll help Shipt continue bringing same-day convenience to more consumers through its growing marketplace of retail partners. Bill’s entrepreneurial achievements have changed the game in same-day delivery, and we thank him for his outstanding leadership of Shipt."
Target acquired Shipt in 2017 for $550 million.
