One of Best Buy Co.’s highest-ranking and longest-serving executives is leaving.
Shari Ballard, senior executive VP and president of multichannel retail for Best Buy, is ending her 25-year career with the electronics retailer, reported the
Star Tribune. She was in charge of overseeing stores, e-commerce, Best Buy Mexico and real estate, and also instrumental in steering the company’s turnaround plan.
The executive will end her tenure on Aug. 3, but will continue at Best Buy through March to help with the transition, the report said. The company does not plan to replace her, and will distribute her responsibilities to other executives.
Ballard said she was not leaving because she was going somewhere else, according to the
StarTribune, which cited an email she wrote to Best Buy employees.
“I’m leaving because it’s time for me to explore the post Best Buy version of me and to grow and learn in new ways,” Ballard wrote in the email. “There is a season to everything, and given the strength of this team and the strength of the company, the timing is right for my journey here to end.”
Ballard started her career at Best Buy as an assistant store manager, and moved up steadily through the ranks. In January 2016, she took the helm of president, U.S. retail.
